Protecting Your Community

Our lifestyles have changed drastically over the last couple months and by now we have all felt the impact of COVID19 in some way. At Payment Experts we know that many merchants are on the front lines and at high risk of exposure to the virus. So, it is crucial to follow all government guidelines to protect ourselves and our communities.

We all have a responsibility to protect ourselves and our communities. For the safety of front line employees it is advised that all purchases be done by card, not cash. Additionally, customers should “tap” their card whenever possible to avoid touching the payment terminal.

Credit Card ‘Tap’ Limit Increase

Social distancing remains critical to stopping the spread of the virus! Essential purchases, like groceries, cannot be totally avoided and we want to be as safe as possible. As a result, major credit card companies are increasing the transaction limit on contactless payments.

Visa, Mastercard and American Express are raising their tap limit to $250. It is at the discretion of the card issuer to permit the limit increase; so, check your card provider’s website for confirmation of their participation.

Please note: There is not a ‘tap’ increase for Interac, Discover, UPI Credit, or UPI Debit.

Social Distancing

Many businesses still remain open in some capacity and their employees risk exposure everyday. These include essential services that we rely on for basic necessities, such as grocery stores and pharmacies. It also includes small family run restaurants that now offer takeout only.

Social distancing is the crucial part that each of has to play during this crisis. In line with government recommendations, we recommend ordering online and using tap if you must shop in-store.
